What are bed bugs and where do bed bugs come from? Bed bugs are blood sucking insects that feed on animal and human blood to survive. They are known to feed during daytime but in a place where there is less light. They have learned to adapt human environments especially in the tropical areas. These parasites are wingless and are usually oval shaped and have flat bodies. When these creatures bite the human flesh, they leave reddish mark that is very itchy and irritating. Bed bugs or Cimex lectularis have been eradicated using the pesticides during the war but obviously they have survived and continue to feed on warm-blooded creatures including human.

- Bed bugs can also come from the laundry especially if one uses laundry rooms for cleaning or washing the clothes. Some people wash their infested linens in the laundry with the parasites clinging it their laundry bags. Bed bugs can easily transfer to your laundry bag and you can possibly bring them into your home with the newly washed clothes.
Detecting and Managing Bed Bugs
Bed bugs can be seen mostly in the bed that’s why they were called such name. But they can also infest in other places such as your furniture and other wooden structure in your house or even in any small tiny places that they can thrive. In detecting bugs in the bed or mattress, look for a blood spot which is an indication that they have bitten somebody. Also their dead remains that are colored dark brown or dark reddish can be noticed. Look behind the area that is facing the wall particularly in the drawers, bed and furniture. Look also beneath the carpet particularly the part that is close to the wall. In the mattresses and linens, check the seams and linings for bed bugs.
Managing bed bugs requires thorough cleaning of the infested area of the house or the whole house if serious infestation is noticed. Using vacuum cleaner to clean the mattresses and carpet are best advised. Washing the linen and mattresses are also a good way of managing bed bugs using a hot dryer to kill them. For serious infestation, using pesticides are advised or ask for professional that can get these parasites off your home.
